About Mrs. Cheri Crabtree
“With love and patience, nothing is impossible." - Daisaku Ikeda
Reading is a passion and I am dedicated to teaching students the “power of yet” while supporting each one as they rise above the challenges of dyslexia.
I hold a B.S. from the University of Oklahoma and a M.Ed. in early childhood education from the University of Central Oklahoma. My commitment to lifelong learning led to my qualifications as a Certified Academic Language Therapist, Dyslexia Therapist, and Certified Reading Specialist.
I am a recent transplant to Texas moving to be near my son, daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren. After teaching at Christ the King Catholic School in Oklahoma for 27 years, I was pleased to find a new home at SPS which is dedicated to providing the time and space for supporting students with dyslexia. I appreciate the collaboration between the classroom teachers and myself in supporting our students in the Take Flight program.
To be nominated for the National Catholic Education Association Distinguished Teacher Award was an honor. Equally special was being selected by my colleagues as a “Pay It Forward” teacher for providing professional development opportunities and serving as an informal reading coach to many. My greatest reward, however, is seeing my students gain confidence as they make strides in becoming proficient readers.
