The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. The students in the SPS chapter of the NJHS are extremely active in their community. Their annual calendar of activities include monthly meetings, participation in the liturgy, St. Vincent De Paul Food Drive, collections for the SPCA and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Halloween Bake Sale, Teacher Appreciation Pie Days, Christmas Candy Cane Sale, and Children's Medical Center Stuffed Animal Drive.
