The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. The students in the SPS chapter of the NJHS are extremely active in their community. Their annual calendar of activities includes monthly meetings, participation in the liturgy, Halloween Bake Sale, planning and decorating for the Middle School Dance, Christmas Candy Cane Sale, making fleece blankets and using funds raised to buy "wish list" items for Family Gateway, as well as various other service projects during the year.
