About Ms. Katie Offen
My name is Katy Offen, and I am so excited to be the 6th grade Social Studies and Science teacher this year! I am a native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, so I grew up loving nature, camping, and hiking. While Texas does not have the mountains that Colorado does, I have fallen in love with the many lakes and beautiful sunsets that Texas has to offer. I came to Dallas to study Politics at the University of Dallas and I graduated with my BA in 2019. I knew my calling was to teach, so I immediately enrolled in education courses as well and I graduated with my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Dallas last May.
While at UD, I spent a semester studying abroad in Rome, which sparked my passion for history. I saw the Pope in the Vatican City, toured the catacombs below St. Peter’s square, and walked through many of the museums Rome has to offer. In addition to living in Italy, I traveled around Europe visiting many countries like Belgium, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Poland, Ireland, Spain, and Greece. My favorite experience was getting to meet my Grandfathers’ family, who were living in a small farm town in the Czech Republic.
Most recently, I was student teaching at Bishop Lynch High School. I discovered I really enjoyed the Catholic environment, and I knew I was meant to work in a Catholic school. I am incredibly blessed to begin my teaching career at St. Patrick!
