Elementary School

Academic Overview

At St. Patrick Catholic School, we are dedicated to transforming the hearts and minds of our students through academic excellence, faith formation, and service. Grounded in the Diocesan Standards-Based Curriculum created by the Catholic Schools Office of Dallas, our program fosters the integral formation of each child—spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally.
Our experienced and passionate teachers create a supportive environment where students develop 21st-century skills like critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. Graduates leave St. Patrick prepared for the rigors of high school and beyond—ready to lead with empathy, serve with purpose, and live out their faith.

Elementary School: 1st – 4th Grade
In the elementary grades, students are encouraged to explore, discover, and grow in both faith and academics. Teachers integrate Catholic values into every subject, helping students develop a strong moral foundation while building their academic confidence.
We use the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt reading program, which offers rich, engaging literature and leveled readers to support students as they move from learning to read to reading to learn. For students with dyslexia in grades 1–4, our Take Flight program provides specialized instruction to ensure every learner has the support they need to thrive.

Faith & Virtue Formation
Faith is central to everything we do. Through our Virtue-Based Restorative Discipline (VBRD) program, students learn about the virtues and lives of the saints. Daily prayer, classroom discussions, and monthly virtue themes help students grow closer to God and one another. Our goal is to help students become compassionate, respectful, and responsible disciples.

Hands-On Learning & Innovation
We believe students learn best by doing. That’s why project-based learning, STEM activities, and creative exploration are central to our classrooms.
  • STEM & Maker Space: Students in grades K–2 visit our Maker Space, where they build, invent, and discover through hands-on projects.
  • SmartLab Innovation Center: Starting in 3rd grade, students have the opportunity to explore STEM and media arts in our cutting-edge SmartLab. Here, they engage in real-world challenges using applied technology and collaborative learning.

Technology & Digital Literacy
Each elementary classroom is equipped with developmentally appropriate technology to support learning and foster digital responsibility. Whether using interactive tools, conducting research, or collaborating on projects, students grow in confidence and digital fluency.

Whole-Child Approach
At St. Patrick, we care for the whole child. We cultivate a growth mindset, encourage independence, and celebrate each student’s God-given gifts. Our teachers build strong, meaningful relationships with students, creating joyful and engaging classrooms where children feel safe, known, and loved.
